Hyosun Kim simultaneously exposes the bodies of subject and object, laying their skin bare.
At first glance, each body appears uniform and clearly defined, recognizable within its distinct boundaries. However, the moment they come into contact, at the instant their boundaries meet, we begin to sense something latent within. This encounter envelops both bodies, leaving impressions like fingerprints,
as though each inscribes its own pattern onto the other.
Through the act of embracing, the artist blurs the boundaries that once seemed so clearly demarcated.
By peeling away the thick, layered surfaces, she reveals a sensibility directed toward the other.
The imperfections and rough textures that emerge in this process bring back to the surface all that the clean, smooth exterior sought to conceal, allowing even scars to be felt.
